im dedicating this post to somebody who earned my utmost respect.
he wasnt somebody outstanding,
nor well-liked(at least that was the impression he gave me)
nor gifted,
but he tries really hard to make something out of what he has,
even if its thru giving material goods.
he does not discriminate,
he tries hard to communicate, not in vain but not to all avail too.
he knew that his class isnt de best,
perhaps he wasnt mr popular in class,
but he has the heart to just purchase something for the class,
so that they wouldnt slp thru lectures.
the cost was nothing, it wasnt even taken into consideration.
his birthday wasnt spent in the best manner like many would,
it wasnt full of anticipation, for his family didnt really celebrate it.
his satisfaction was when we ate with him,
he was welcomed to the idea of treating us something rather pricey,
to be dejected, as we felt guilty.
he speaks honestly, and is willing to share what he knows,
in no way arrogant.

My 2008
My year in 2008 has been rather fruitful so far.
in school, at home, physically, mentally, spiritually etc.
it will also put an end to my secondary school education.
ive learnt so many things that one cant purchase with cash.

ive learnt responsibility, as the president of CMs this year,
though i may not demonstrate to my fullest capability.
ive tried to live up to the reputation, although ive failed somehow.
nevertheless, i dont feel like a failure, but glad that i at least gave my shot at it.
im thankful for all the help ive received, from fellow peers(my other CMs), seniors(pei rong etc), and of course Mr Sara, and perhaps some others who contributed along the way as well.
academically wise, not much, just the usual things u gotta do at school, but im also grateful to
all my teachers who believed i can and i will. Mr Toh, Mrs Ang, Mrs Tan, Ms Woon, Mr Yeo etc..

Friends too, like at least now im clear of who my best mates are, how ive to react and act
to be a good friend too. So many of u i cant name all, but im sure u know who u are, those that
left an impact in my life, a footstep. thanks for accompanying me thru bad times and savouring the good times. love the shopping and outings with justin, kelvin etc, the joggings and soccer matches with the guys, the slackin times with Jane etc, the DDR sessions with jamie, the comical CM meetings with my CMs junhao, yuansong, mervyn, jy and de juniors, crazy times like that swimming at PY's bday party with fadhil, ahmed, ... the advisor guanhong, not forgettin my 2 best lame mates since sec1 muhd and lw too, whom i hang out with most, talked cock with most, played soccer with most, went lepak-ed with most etcccccc and all the really siao things that we did, esp the stupid 3-5consecutive days at airports 'studying'.. thats not all, all the other friends too, sorry uh, not possible to state every single person. well, ive finally learnto let go, of certain people. someone who everybody just persuaded me to cut off all contacts with.

ive also learnt to be a better brother, and maybe, a better son.
like the controlling of my materialistic nature. material goods are not everything.
also that 2 dreams who served as a wake up call.

ive also got my job at escape this year, and that made my year even more fulfilling.
made me gain some insights of how tough juggling jobs are. the friends ive made there are also really nice, and we are able to share our joys and woes of working, and other aspects of our life. also lynn and zoa esp, for our mahjong sessions lol.

furthermore, ive entered electone finals with some newly-made friends this year. really fun people and we even went kbox etc together. the effort and time spent for our Lian Ai-ING is simply priceless. also, we really appreciate the help of our teacher Ms Chua who spent sooooooooooooo much time thinkin of how to help us improve and providing all other treats, and the other group, the TEENS, who look upon us as friends instead of competitors. i didnt forget 1 girl, jacey, for shopping with me at bugis twice haha. i rmb the watermelons, mr noisy shirt and all other trivial things too.

i think ive matured(duh!) and became vain-er than before. also, i started learning guitar and gymnastics, stopped wushu became a little more hardworking. POCO only, meaning little in spanish. also, i spent money like nobody's business this year and became poorer. haha. kinda typical though.

i hope my new year will be as fruitful(or more) as this year, with more new friends and opportunities. also hope that i can stay in contact with as many people as possible. my resolution however, is to spend less money (:

living in singapore sucks.
it's fking hot and humid, so it would be a miracle not to sweat.
the traffic system with so darn many traffic lights are stupid,
when u got past 1 red light, another red lights up in front.
even if you are the only car at midnight stranded in front of a red light,
you gotta wait for it to turn green.
SBS isnt any better,
you either get all ur buses coming together, like three 9s coming in a line,
or no 9s at all for 15mins.
whenever u put the frustrations of an SBS bus with a traffic light,
you shortened your life by half an hour,
and you can finish half your mp3's battery.
ERPs are everywhere,
they suck money from your card.
i reckon ERPs will be set up outside lifts next time,
or even at the entrances of shopping centre,
to prevent overcrowding.
EZlink card is the new cashcard.
prices are rising, ministers' pay are rising,
but workers' pay are cut,
or some even faced retrenchment, see the recent bank issue.
well it's important that our ministers have high pay cheques,
so that they will not be corrupted
and make decisions that might only benefit them instead of the country.

we also have so many fashion parades everyday,
quite interesting i might say,
non-proportional clothings, colorblind people, same punk hair everywhere.
also, teenagers have to be home by 11,
or else they will get mugged by robbers
and chased by polices too,

anyway, we have no natural resources,
we only have people, so they gotta be eager learners.
PSLE and OLevels are just part and parcel of life,
if you screw up there goes your future.

remember your attire!
short neat hair for boys, nicely tied up fringe for girls.
or no tapering of pants, skirt gotta be only 2cm above knees too.
its important to give good impressions,

1 paper is not representative of our capability as a person.
furthermore, ive learnt how well singapore was developed.
our healthcare needs was so successful,
people without income just cant wait to receive quality healthcare.
but wait, i forgot, they cant afford to,
they have no income, no CPF, no medisave.
medifund is provided, but not enough.
its okie, they can mortage their house.
is it safe to mortage actually?
nah, banks unreliable,
economy downturn, we have other markets to depend on,
lets see if there's any progress.
singapore is such a wonderful place.
i love singapore so much that i cant wait to emigrate.

training today was kinda disastrous. think i got some internal injuries. verdammen es. coach alex said it was muscle memory, that meine muscles were 'forgetful' today.. muscle memories are the reason why athletes train soo damn hard and frequent for, cause it can happen on one fine day, on your most anticipated competition, where your muscles 'feign' ignorance, pretending it was the first day you're training.

ja, the main thing i wanna blog about today is ADULTS vs TEENAGERS.

in some recent spate of debates, some ADULTS complained that TEENAGERS nowadays are irresponsible, wilder, ruder than before. true in a way, cause teenagers tend to be more rebellious. on the contrary, aren't adults supposed to be blamed too? since much of these vice were picked up

just today, typical scene at the bus interchange, where people from all walks of life were rushing to get home, when an old lady, in her late fifties i suppose, pushed her way into a bus, obviously ignoring everybody else who was queuing up. in a nonchalant manner, she just grabbed a seat and sat down. some people were dissed but nobody said anything, perhaps out of respect for elderly. anyway, she was so stylish, and even wore sunglasses.

1 example, perhaps not representative of much, but well there are a few more. (:

first off, CIPs in schools are considered compulsory, reasoned to improve a student's community spirit. patriotism? students are supposed to participate in the CIPs, learn from it, gain experiences, gain insight on community etc etc rather than harp on getting 100 CIP hours. often the school PLANS and ORGANISES the activities, but students sweat it out. how often do you see a principal on the streets trying to sell flags? alternatively, how often do you see office men and ladies trying to sell flags? so does it mean that adults in the working world have too much community spirit? or they are already contributed their part in community by sustaining our economy? hence, need not undergo CIP activities

are teenagers more able-bodied than adults that standing under the blazing sun to sell flags for 3-4 hours is considered nothing? while there might be serious repercussions to get adults to take part in such simple activity? anyway, is there any company so far which can afford to visit an old folks' home, and spreading the joy of working in the society?

secondly, where adults complain about teenagers leaving a mess on the table after eating and leaving their trays etc on Mac tables waiting for cleaners to do the jobs blahblahblah yadaa yadaa yadaa. schools are successful in getting students to clear up their tables after meals, but why not elsewhere? well, reason being adults have already instilled this mindset that 'it's alright to leave your finished food on the tables, it's okie to spit whatever's in your mouth on the tables or plates as long as you don't make it look too disturbing, and tissues can be stuffed under plates, cause the cleaners can do the job. and oh, there's no pails etc to throw the plates in, nah, we HAVE the cleaners. they earn their living serving us,' on modern teenagers, so how's bad is it to follow?

third point, jaywalking is an offence. how many schools have reprimanded students for jaywalking while their teachers jaywalked just outside the school compound? students are bound to follow. how many adults have grabbed their children's hands and dashed across the road simply because the traffic lights' are a good 10metres away? wouldn't their children just adhere?

to add on, remember any events like 'free cone day' where free B&J's icecreams were distributed FOC? i noticed about half the populations being adults 'choping' places for their friends, children etc, numerous office people queuing for 1 tiny cone, and many other adults by the side criticizing teenagers who are queuing for being cheapskate and choping places etc.. not bad eh, when these working adults couldnt squeeze ANY of their worktime to do some services yet have the time to rejoice over their accomplishment of managing to get ONE icecream or survey the crowds (:

teenagers are being moulded by our good role models -- adults. we are simply imitating them, there's nothing wrong with that. Our PM has often advocated on Singapore being a gracious society, im sure that day will come soon.
